India hosts air combat exercise Tarang Shakti amid F-35 banter
Original: exercise tarang shakti
Exercise Tarang Shakti, a large multinational air combat drill hosted by the Indian Air Force, is drawing attention as air chiefs from partner nations gather in India. IAF chief Amar Preet Singh joked with American counterparts that Washington bars India from the F-35 programme while simultaneously offering to sell jets, underlining New Delhi's push for access to advanced Western fighter technology.
Why now: The multinational exercise is underway and the IAF chief's remarks about F-35 access touched a nerve in defence circles.
