Underwhelming novillada opens Zaragoza's Pilar Fair

Original: novillada

A novillada featuring bulls from the Los Maños ranch opened the Feria del Pilar in Zaragoza to a lukewarm critical reception. A review in El Periódico de Aragón described the animals as lacking spirit, coining the phrase 'ni olés ni ayes' to capture a fight that gave the crowd little to cheer about.

Why now: The Pilar Fair is one of Spain's major bullfighting events, so the opening novillada's poor performance draws attention from fans and critics.
