Burnham to drop UAE sponsorship criticism after Man City threat, says Wyness
Original: Andy Burnham to turn back on UAE 'shortfall' after Man City threat - Keith Wyness
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness claims Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham will backtrack on comments about a shortfall in UAE-linked finances after receiving a threat of legal action from Manchester City. Burnham had raised questions over Etihad Airways sponsorship, prompting a strong response from the club. The exchange adds to ongoing scrutiny of City's ownership-linked commercial deals and their dispute with the Premier League over financial rules.
Why now: Ongoing tension between Manchester City and UK public figures over the club's UAE sponsorship and financial fair play scrutiny.
