The Open Quantum Challenge invites developers to take part in reproducible, hardware-free quantum benchmarks using only their own GPUs, with two seasons offering a $1,000 prize each. Organisers position it as an open-source, community-driven effort spanning quantum computing, AI, software and engineering, lowering the entry barrier for people without access to quantum hardware.

Why now: The promise of quantum benchmarking without needing quantum hardware, plus cash prizes, is drawing attention from the open-source and AI developer community.
