Federal regulators prepare overhaul of US headlight rules
Original: Feds get ready to rewrite car headlight rules
US federal regulators are preparing to rewrite the rules governing car headlights, according to Ars Technica. The move could change what lighting technologies automakers are allowed to install on vehicles sold in the United States. Commenters are debating how current standards have lagged behind adaptive beam systems already common in Europe, and what safer lighting could mean for night driving.
Why now: Regulatory changes to headlight standards affect road safety and the cars people buy, drawing attention from drivers and auto industry watchers.
