Parkstad local broadcasters move toward regional station

Original: omroep

Local broadcasters in the Parkstad region of the southern Netherlands are working toward merging into a single regional broadcaster. The plan would combine several municipal public channels into one regional public broadcaster serving the area around Heerlen and Kerkrade. Details about timing and which stations will take part were not provided, and reactions from audiences or authorities have so far been limited.

Why now: Consolidation of Dutch local public broadcasters raises local interest about the future of regional news coverage.
