Original: “Frustrated” and "disappointed" by loss to Spain, USWNT “not deterred” in Women's World Cup build up
The United States women's national soccer team says it is frustrated and disappointed after a loss to Spain, but insists the defeat has not deterred it ahead of the Women's World Cup. Players and staff are treating the result as a setback in their preparations rather than a signal of weakness, framing the friendly as a learning moment in the buildup to the tournament.
Why now: The USWNT lost to Spain in a warm-up match shortly before the Women's World Cup, prompting concern and debate about the team's form.
