Representative Brian Fitzpatrick announced he will introduce bipartisan legislation to block all purchases of Russian oil, to be named the 'Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act.' He said the bill will be forced to the House floor through a discharge petition and predicted it will pass overwhelmingly. The move aims to cut off a key source of revenue for Moscow amid ongoing concern over the war in Ukraine.

Why now: Lawmakers are under pressure to tighten sanctions on Russian energy revenues as the war in Ukraine continues.
