Critics say Trump trade move betrays NATO allies
Original: Arguably this is Trump 'trying to' put # AmericaFirst -- it will add a few days of # USA diesel while abandoning # NATO
Commentators are arguing that a recent Trump decision framed as putting America first will add only a few days' worth of US diesel supply while effectively abandoning NATO, the EU and Ukraine. Critics see it as a short-sighted trade-off that weakens Western alliances for minimal domestic energy gain.
Why now: Debate over whether Trump's policy prioritises short-term US fuel supply at the cost of alliance commitments.
