Israel blocking 8,600 emergency shelter kits from entering Gaza, UN agency says
Original: Israel is blocking 8,600 emergency shelter kits from entering Gaza by classifying wood, tarpaulins, and basic materials
The UN migration agency (IOM) says Israel is preventing 8,600 emergency shelter kits from entering Gaza by classifying wood, tarpaulins and other basic materials as dual-use goods. Almost all of Gaza's population is in need of shelter ahead of winter, and El Niño-driven rains raise the threat of heavy flooding in the territory.
Why now: Humanitarian agencies and observers are reacting to reports of aid obstruction as winter weather worsens conditions for displaced people in Gaza.
