Free 'clean room' clones of Adobe apps surface online
Original: Someone made a "legal" copy of Adobe app's like Lr and published them for free... 🤣🤣🤣 Using a so called "clean room meth
A developer has published free, allegedly legally clean reimplementations of Adobe applications such as Lightroom, claiming to have used a 'clean room method' and AI tools in the process. The move is drawing amused and skeptical reactions online, with some photographers saying they will stick to existing free alternatives like Darktable. It raises fresh questions about whether open, AI-assisted clones could challenge Adobe's dominance in creative software.
Why now: People are reacting to the provocative claim that Adobe's flagship apps have been legally recreated and given away free using AI.
Evidence
- Someone made a "legal" copy of Adobe app's like Lr and published them for free... 🤣🤣🤣 Using a so called "clean room method" and guess what, AI was used to. Is this the end for Adobe? I don't know but I never used and never will, I'm just happy with #darktable 🧵 #Photography… · ollmtm.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy · 2
