Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has postponed Palestinian legislative elections for another year. The delay further extends a vote that had already been postponed from 2021, deepening frustration among Palestinians over the lack of electoral prospects and the long standoff between Abbas's Fatah movement and Hamas. Observers say the decision reinforces concerns about the Palestinian leadership's legitimacy and the prospects for political renewal in the occupied territories.
Why now: The postponement of long-delayed Palestinian elections is a significant political development affecting Palestinian governance and prospects for statehood.
