India anti-terror agency to probe mid-air cockpit attack on flydubai pilot
Original: India's anti-terror agency to probe mid-air cockpit attack on Captain Smit Machchhar aboard flydubai fligh
India's National Investigation Agency has taken over the case of Captain Smit Machchhar, a pilot attacked mid-flight aboard a flydubai service. The assault on the cockpit crew, involving a foreign carrier operating to and from India, has been referred to the anti-terror agency rather than local police, signalling authorities are treating it as a potential terror-related incident. Details of the attacker's motive and the flight route remain limited.
Why now: The handover to India's anti-terror agency marks a serious escalation in a mid-air assault case and raises aviation security concerns.
