Pentagon and Lockheed Martin agree on major F-35 production deal

Original: lockheed martin f-35 lightning ii

The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin have signed a framework agreement for the production of 850 F-35 Lightning II jets over ten years, securing the future of the stealth fighter programme. The news is drawing attention alongside a separate report that F-35 parts were mistakenly shipped from Australia to Hong Kong, placing sensitive US stealth technology near China and raising security concerns.

Why now: A major new production contract for the F-35 has just been announced, alongside security concerns over misdelivered parts.
