Bret Easton Ellis on why actors avoid Patrick Bateman role
Original: christian bale
Author Bret Easton Ellis says actors have turned down the chance to play Patrick Bateman, the 'American Psycho' character made famous by Christian Bale. Ellis suggests some passed on the part because they did not want to follow Bale's iconic performance, saying they 'don't want to be in the shoes of Christian Bale'. The remarks are renewing interest in the 2000 film and Bale's acclaimed turn as the Wall Street serial killer.
Why now: Ellis's new comments about the casting of Patrick Bateman are drawing fresh attention to Christian Bale and American Psycho.
