New System Detects Hidden Spy Cameras at Long Range
Original: Eye of Sauron: Long-Range Hidden Spy Camera Detection (2024)
Researchers are presenting 'Eye of Sauron', a system that can detect hidden spy cameras from long distances, at the USENIX Security 2024 conference. The technique aims to address growing concerns over covert surveillance devices hidden in hotel rooms, rentals and other private spaces, where manual sweeps for tiny cameras are difficult and unreliable.
Why now: Privacy concerns about hidden cameras in hotels and rentals make an effective long-range detection method highly relevant
