Original: The FlyDubai co-pilot who is accused of attacking his pilot and attempting to take over their Israel-bound flight last week planned to crash the aircraft into the passenger terminal at Ben-Gurion International Airport, the United Arab Emirates says.

The United Arab Emirates says a FlyDubai co-pilot accused of attacking his pilot and trying to seize control of an Israel-bound flight last week intended to crash the aircraft into the passenger terminal at Ben-Gurion International Airport. The allegation casts the incident as a planned attack rather than an in-flight altercation, and is drawing attention to cockpit security and aviation safety on regional routes.

Why now: Authorities have just revealed that the mid-flight attack was allegedly a planned attack targeting a major Israeli airport.
