Mamata Banerjee survives knife attack attempt at protest

Original: mamata banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in the news for two reasons: a woman allegedly attempted to attack her with a knife hidden in her clothes, with the woman claiming to belong to a faction, and the Trinamool Congress leader was detained by police in Delhi during a crackdown on protests against the Chief Election Commissioner. Several other opposition leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, were also detained in the same crackdown.

Why now: A reported knife attack attempt on her and her detention at Delhi protests have made her the focus of political headlines.
