Original: bomba
An explosive device went off at a car rental business in Italy, the fifth bombing in the area in seven days. Local daily la Repubblica reports that anti-mafia prosecutors have now opened an investigation into the string of attacks. The repeated targeting of businesses in such a short span has raised alarm about possible extortion or organized-crime intimidation behind the blasts.
Why now: A fifth bombing in just seven days, now under anti-mafia investigation, is a striking escalation drawing public attention in Italy
