Israel angry over Nobel Peace Prize for Navi Pillay

Original: norwegen

Israel has reacted with anger to the Norwegian Nobel Committee's decision to award the Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, the South African former UN human rights chief. Pillay, who has been criticised by Israel over her statements on the Gaza conflict, said the Nuremberg trials inspired her work. The award is drawing international debate.

Why now: The Nobel Peace Prize, awarded in Norway, has just been announced and its recipient is controversial with Israel.
