German street racers face murder conviction and speed crackdowns
Original: raser
Several German cases of excessive speeding are drawing attention. Two drivers were caught racing through a 50 km/h zone on Dortmund's Wall at 95 km/h, while a speed check on the B90 near Stadtilm recorded 63 offenders. Separately, a court convicted a driver who caused a fatal crash of murder, a ruling widely discussed as a signal of how seriously German courts now treat illegal street racing.
Why now: A recent court ruling convicting a racer of murder, alongside new speed enforcement incidents, has put dangerous driving back in the headlines.
