NPB announces 2026 Climax Series schedule and new rules
Original: クライマックスシリーズ
NPB has released the schedule for the 2026 Climax Series, Japan's professional baseball postseason. This year's edition introduces new rules: the Central League final stage will be best-of-four with the higher seed starting 1-0 up, while the Pacific League remains best-of-five with a 1-0 advantage. Media outlets are debating how managers like DeNA's will handle pitching rotations under the new format, including relievers bridging innings and starters used in middle relief.
Why now: The postseason is starting and fans are discussing the newly announced schedule and the differing rules between the two leagues.
