Images circulating online show the Novoshakhtinsky oil loading terminal in Russia's Rostov region appearing badly damaged. Commentators sharing them link the timing sarcastically to Donald Trump's phone call with Vladimir Putin, suggesting the strike undercut any talk of progress toward peace. The terminal has previously been targeted during attacks on Russian oil infrastructure, and the images have drawn attention amid ongoing discussion of the Ukraine war.
Why now: The visible damage to a Russian oil facility, juxtaposed with a Trump-Putin phone call, is being shared as a pointed comment on the state of peace efforts.
