Mexico investigates video allegedly showing cartel members fighting for Ukraine
Original: Mexico investigates video said to show cartel members fighting for Ukraine
Mexican authorities have opened an investigation into footage said to show members of a Mexican cartel fighting on Ukraine's side in the war against Russia. The claims, reported by Al Jazeera, have not been independently verified, and it remains unclear who the men are or whether they are actually cartel members. The alleged link between organised crime in Mexico and the Ukraine conflict has drawn wide attention.
Why now: Reports of Mexican cartel members possibly fighting in Ukraine are striking and unverified, prompting official scrutiny and public interest.
