Why AI cannot prepare preachers for the pulpit
Original: Reasons why AI can’t prepare you for the pulpit
Baptist Press argues that artificial intelligence, however useful for research or drafting sermons, cannot prepare someone for ministry in the pulpit. The piece contends that preaching requires spiritual formation, personal conviction, pastoral experience and a living relationship with God—qualities no machine can replicate or simulate. It adds to a wider debate among religious communities about the proper limits of AI tools in worship, sermon preparation and pastoral care.
Why now: Growing anxiety and debate in religious circles about how far AI should be used in spiritual leadership and preaching.
