Protesters in Durban, South Africa, say they were not aware of a recently withdrawn directive affecting asylum seekers, according to SABC News. Demonstrators took to the streets over asylum and immigration concerns, but several participants admitted they had no knowledge of the withdrawn directive, raising questions about how information on asylum policy changes reaches affected communities and those mobilising around the issue.
Why now: The withdrawal of an asylum directive and the protesters' claimed ignorance of it highlight communication gaps around South African immigration policy, drawing public attention.
