Nobel Peace Prize Goes to Jurist Behind UN Gaza Genocide Inquiry
Original: Nobel Peace Prize Awarded to Jurist Who Led UN Inquiry Into Genocide in Gaza
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to the jurist who led a United Nations inquiry that concluded Israel's conduct in Gaza amounted to genocide. The decision is drawing immediate international attention, with supporters praising the recognition of independent human rights work and critics condemning the committee for politicising the prize amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
Why now: The prize's explicit link to the Gaza genocide finding makes it a lightning rod in current debates over the Israel-Hamas war.
