Arkansas' annual fee on electric vehicles sparks debate
Original: OPINION | Drivetime Mahatma: Arkansas’ annual all-electric vehicle fee a jolt
An opinion column in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette argues that the state's annual fee on all-electric vehicles amounts to an unfair 'jolt' for EV owners. The piece questions the size of the charge, which is levied instead of the gasoline tax electric drivers do not pay. The commentary is drawing attention to how Arkansas taxes alternative-fuel motorists.
Why now: The opinion piece's critique of the EV fee is prompting discussion about how electric vehicles are taxed in Arkansas.
