Iran accuses France of hypocrisy over nuclear weapons policy
Original: Iran slams France's contradictory stance on testing, deploying nuclear weapons
Iran has criticised France over what Tehran calls a contradictory position on nuclear weapons, accusing Paris of double standards for maintaining and testing its own nuclear arsenal while pressing other countries on non-proliferation. The statement, carried by Iranian state media, frames France's stance as inconsistent with its declared commitments to disarmament under international treaties.
Why now: Ongoing tensions over nuclear policy and disarmament between Iran and Western powers keep such exchanges in the news.
