Politkovskaya Speaks at the European Parliament
Original: Politkovskaya in the European Parliament
A member of the Politkovskaya family name has taken the floor at the European Parliament, according to coverage circulating online. The name is strongly associated with Anna Politkovskaya, the Russian investigative journalist murdered in Moscow in 2006, whose work documented abuses in Chechnya and criticized the Kremlin. Details of who spoke, what was said, and the session's agenda remain sparse in the available coverage.
Why now: The Politkovskaya name carries heavy symbolic weight in European debates about Russia, press freedom and Kremlin criticism, drawing wide attention to any parliamentary appearance.
