Trump moves to fire Fed's Lisa Cook via new committee
Original: Proving yet again that he is a # WhiteSupremacist who hates women… # Trump establishes committee to “investigate” # Fede
Critics say Donald Trump has set up a committee to investigate Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook, in what they describe as the latest effort to remove her from the central bank. Opponents argue the move is politically and racially motivated, and note the Supreme Court has already ruled he cannot fire her. The controversy is drawing accusations of racism and misogyny.
Why now: Trump's ongoing attempt to remove Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve is seen as an unprecedented attack on the central bank's independence.
