Jakob Nielsen's old web speed advice recirculates

A reference to usability expert Jakob Nielsen's early-2000s Alertbox columns is circulating online, recalling his guidance that software should respond within a tenth of a second and web pages within about a second. Commenters contrasted those standards with today's slower, ad-cluttered web, expressing nostalgia for a time when speed and responsiveness were treated as core design priorities.
Why now: People are again frustrated with slow, bloated websites and are looking back at early web usability guidance as a benchmark.
