Downtown hotel workers strike ahead of Chicago Marathon
Original: Workers at downtown hotels go on strike ahead of Chicago Marathon
Workers at downtown Chicago hotels have gone on strike just ahead of the Chicago Marathon, one of the city's biggest annual events. The walkout targets hotels that rely on the surge of visitors the race brings each fall. The strike adds pressure on hotel operators at a peak moment for downtown tourism, though details on the workers' demands have not yet been fully reported.
Why now: The timing of the strike during a major citywide event puts maximum pressure on hotels and disrupts travel plans.
