Toto Wolff hits back at Mercedes favouritism rumours

Original: kimi antonelli

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has angrily dismissed speculation that the team favours rookie Kimi Antonelli over George Russell, calling the rumours 'brainless' and telling critics to 'just watch Teletubbies'. The remarks come amid discussion of Mercedes' new upgrade package and a split-car experiment in Singapore, which the team says has exposed a weakness with the new parts. Wolff's forceful response has itself become a major talking point in Formula 1.

Why now: Wolff's unusually fiery denial of favouritism rumours involving Antonelli and Russell has drawn wide attention during the Singapore F1 weekend.
