Original: чжэн циньвэнь

Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen defeated Ukraine's Elina Svitolina to advance to the semi-finals of the WTA-1000 tournament in Beijing. Her run has drawn attention because she matched an achievement previously recorded by Lindsay Davenport, Patty Schnyder and Leylah Fernandez at WTA-1000 level events. Russian-speaking sports outlets are covering the result as one of the main tennis stories of the week.

Why now: The Chinese star's strong run at the Beijing WTA-1000, including a win over Svitolina, is making sports news across Russian-language media.
