Hotel workers strike ahead of Chicago Marathon weekend
Original: Hotel workers on strike ahead of Chicago Marathon weekend
Hotel workers in Chicago have gone on strike just before marathon weekend, one of the city's busiest hospitality periods, when tens of thousands of visitors fill hotels. The timing appears deliberate, aiming to maximize pressure on hotel operators during a major event. The walkout comes amid ongoing labor disputes in the hotel industry over pay and working conditions, with runners and travelers likely to face disruption.
Why now: The strike disrupts hotels at the start of a major event weekend, drawing wide attention to the labor dispute.
