Campaign launched against social media abuse of teenage figure skaters
Original: Teenage figure skaters increasingly targeted by social media abuse as campaign launches
A new campaign has been launched to protect teenage figure skaters from growing social media abuse. Reports say young skaters are increasingly targeted with online harassment, prompting action from within the sport. The initiative aims to raise awareness, support athletes, and push back against the trolling directed at competitors, many of them minors, especially around major competitions.
Why now: Concern over online abuse of young athletes is growing, and the new campaign gives people a fresh story to discuss.
