Do solar farms threaten arable land in Scotland?
Plans for a large solar farm in the Carse of Gowrie area have raised concerns that prime Scottish farmland is being taken out of food production. Supporters of solar projects argue they are needed for Scotland's renewable energy targets, while critics say building on high-quality arable land is a poor trade-off for agricultural output.
Why now: Debate over balancing renewable energy expansion with protection of scarce productive farmland.
