Kubota expands AX-1 weeding robot across Europe
Original: Kubota expands AX-1 robot in Europe: Kilter claims 95% herbicide cut possible
Kubota is broadening the European rollout of its AX-1 autonomous weeding robot, developed with Kilter. The company claims the technology can cut herbicide use by up to 95% by targeting individual weeds rather than spraying whole fields. The move signals growing commercialisation of precision agriculture robotics in Europe as farmers face pressure to reduce chemical inputs.
Why now: Farmers and agri-tech watchers are interested in robots that could sharply reduce herbicide costs and meet tightening EU pesticide rules.
