Emergency power outages begin across Ukraine
Original: Emergency power outages begin across Ukraine Emergency power outages have been introduced in certain regions of Ukraine
Emergency power outages have been introduced in several regions of Ukraine from 9 October after recent Russian attacks damaged the power grid. State grid operator Ukrenergo announced the shutdowns, citing a difficult situation in the electricity system. The measures are among the first emergency blackouts of the season and are expected to affect households and businesses intermittently as authorities work to restore capacity.
Why now: Russian strikes on energy infrastructure have forced Ukrenergo to impose emergency outages, raising concern about Ukraine's power supply heading into winter.
