UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres drew attention after declining to respond to a question on Kashmir during his visit to Pakistan. Indian commentary, including former officer Major Gaurav Arya, has seized on the moment to criticise the UN's stance on the disputed region, arguing it reflects indifference to India's position that Kashmir is a bilateral matter between India and Pakistan.
Why now: The UN chief's silence on a politically charged Kashmir question during a Pakistan visit fuels debate over the organisation's neutrality on the India-Pakistan dispute.
