Kuwait Dive Team Removes Ghost Net From Arifjan Reef
Original: Kuwait Dive Team Clears Ghost Net From Arifjan Coral Reef
A Kuwait dive team has removed an abandoned fishing net, known as a ghost net, from a coral reef off Arifjan. Ghost nets continue to trap and kill marine life long after being lost, and their removal helps protect coral ecosystems. The cleanup has drawn attention as an example of volunteer-led ocean conservation efforts in the Gulf region.
Why now: Environmental cleanups that protect coral reefs resonate with growing public concern over ocean plastic and marine conservation.
