Trump proposes fee for foreign graduates
Donald Trump has proposed a fee targeting foreign graduates, a move that would affect international students seeking to remain and work in the United States after completing their studies. Critics are expected to argue it would deter global talent and hurt universities, while supporters frame it as protecting American workers. Immigration policy is again at the centre of US political debate.
Why now: Immigration and student visa policy are highly contentious topics, and any new proposal from Trump draws immediate attention.
