Godse supporters criticised on Gandhi's birthday

Original: All Godse-lovers crying hard on Gandhi’s birthday obviously

Remarks marking Mahatma Gandhi's birthday are drawing sharp political commentary in India, with the observation that admirers of Nathuram Godse, Gandhi's assassin, are reacting angrily to tributes on the anniversary of his birth, October 2. The comment, widely shared online, highlights the ongoing ideological divide in India between those who honour Gandhi's legacy and fringe groups who venerate Godse.

Why now: The remark coincides with Gandhi Jayanti, when tributes to Gandhi reignite criticism of his admirers and detractors alike.
