Original: Show HN: Quake ported to safe Rust, playable in browser
A port of the classic 1996 shooter Quake has been rewritten in safe Rust and made playable directly in the browser. The project, shared on Hacker News, lets users play the game without installing anything, and is drawing attention from developers interested in Rust's memory-safety guarantees being applied to a full game engine port.
Why now: Developers are interested in seeing a classic game engine rewritten in safe Rust and running in a browser without plugins.
