Atomic bomb survivors rally against Japan PM's nuclear policy shift
Original: Atomic bomb survivors rally against Japan PM's push to revise non-nuclear principles
Hibakusha, the survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, have rallied in Japan against the Prime Minister's push to revise the country's long-standing three non-nuclear principles. The survivors argue that weakening the commitment not to possess, produce or allow nuclear weapons on Japanese soil betrays their decades-long campaign for a nuclear-free future and dishonours the memory of the bombings.
Why now: The Prime Minister's proposal to revise Japan's non-nuclear principles has alarmed atomic bomb survivors, prompting public opposition.
