Victor Montagliani is set to run for re-election as president of Concacaf, the governing body for soccer in North and Central America and the Caribbean. According to the New York Times report, he has also ruled out launching a challenge against Gianni Infantino for the FIFA presidency, effectively ending speculation about a rival candidacy and clearing the way for Infantino to continue unopposed.

Why now: FIFA election season is approaching and Montagliani was seen as a potential rival to Infantino, so his decision reshapes the race.
