Detainees at an ICE facility in Folkston, Georgia used the center's own video calling software to show the outside world the conditions they are being held in. The report is tied to a hunger strike at the detention center and has drawn attention to overcrowding and treatment inside. The story is circulating widely among immigration and human rights observers.
Why now: Reports of a hunger strike and detainees documenting conditions themselves have renewed scrutiny of ICE detention centers.
