Spanish housing protesters vow to fight on after pensioner's death
Original: Spanish socialist Jesús told Socialist Worker, “Just one day after all trade unions together called for a general strike
Housing activists in Spain are mourning the death of a pensioner, Maricarmen, and vowing to continue their campaign in her name. Spanish socialist Jesús told Socialist Worker that the news came just one day after all trade unions jointly called a general strike over rising salaries and living costs, linking the housing struggle to wider labour unrest.
Why now: The pensioner's death has energised Spain's housing movement at the same moment unions have called a general strike over wages and the cost of living.
