Rwanda in talks to bring Formula 1 back to Africa

Original: Rwanda F1 race: Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen welcome prospect of Africa return as talks gather pace

Rwanda is holding talks about hosting a Formula 1 race, which would mark the championship's return to Africa for the first time in decades. Drivers including Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have welcomed the prospect. Hamilton has long pushed for a race on the continent, and the prospect of a Rwandan venue has gathered momentum as discussions advance.

Why now: Formula 1 has not raced in Africa since 1993, so the prospect of a return is a major story for the sport.
